The bar’s name, Juliet Rose, is taken from one of the most elite roses in the world, developed over a 15-year period by renowned rose breeder David Austin. As well as lending the concept connotations of craftsmanship and the long-term pursuit of perfection, the ‘Rose’ reference will also be easily understood by a local audience as a nod to Rosenheimer Strasse, the street onto which the bar’s dedicated entrance faces, as well as the Rosenheimer Platz metro station, on top of which the hotel stands.

The generously-apportioned, 90-seat, 180 sqm bar is located on the hotel’s ground floor, with easy access from both the hotel’s spacious new reception, as well as via its own dedicated Rosenheimer Strasse entrance, introduced to maximize passing trade. Customers can additionally access the hotel and bar directly from the metro station and an adjacent car park below, arriving via a special circulation route through the ground floor of the hotel, offering intriguing glimpses of the back of the bar through semi-opaque windows, so that the bar is referenced and announced from every possible angle.

Juliet Rose is made up of four different bar seating areas, each with different stand-out features, plus two bars. The main ‘ceremony bar’ is a stunning, monolithic U-shaped design that guests coming from the hotel entrance see as soon as they enter the space, at the far end of a central approach.

A second, smaller-scale coffee bar is made of the same dramatic moss-green and highly-polished granite, with the choice of material referencing the earthiness of botanical ingredients. The granite for the main bar has been book-matched to ensure dramatic textural veining from the front.

As the existing columns in the space are quite dominant, the design team made a feature of them by using new cladding and mirroring. An existing ceiling was removed so that space’s full height could be used, with a dramatic new lighting structure that uses brass pipes and large, exposed lamps to add to the geometric, laboratory feel. Inset mirrors within the ceiling area reinforce the structure, as well as adding reflection and sparkle.

As well as the overhead grid structure, these include a stand-out ‘test tube’ style pendant light located over the main bar and a number of vertical, glass-clad wall lights, which refer to the test-tube decorative light in style. A number of mid-wall lights throughout feature a circular fitting with a pole attachment to each side. These add layering and create a lower-level light source to bring light to the tables. Flooring throughout features stained oak timber surround and inset panels, made up of a geometric pattern of small white mosaic areas, plus larger slices set at interesting angles.

The four main seating zones include a casual drop-in area, directly to the left of the entrance, primarily for daytime use for coffee and cakes. Further casual bar seating is to the right, whilst the two sections further back and along both sides of the bar, for day or evening use, feature a mixture of seating types, as well as a communal high table, for groups, cocktails evenings and special events.

Furniture throughout bar design area includes sofas in bottle green leather and lose seating upholstered in pale oyster pink or else in deep orange leather with thin brass upstands and dark turquoise seat backs. Tables are either a marble-effect Silestone, a brass-edged timber-topped design or, for the higher communal table, a series of easily-conjoined tables featuring a print taken from a magnified gold-veined leaf print.

Leo’s interior design guides you through influences from the 1960s, with a mix of contemporary retro and oriental elements. In fact, one of the secrets of the Dimore Studio interiors duo is that they dare to mix a number of colours, bar furniture, and styles. These bar decor ideas are divided into two areas – a bar with a counter and counter stools and a nightclub with a stage.

The bar’s wallpaper is dark with geometric patterns, while green Guatemalan marble has been chosen by the two designers for the countertop. A touch of glamour is added by the velvet brass counter bar stools, upholstered in dark pink shade.

The nightclub, conversely, is characterized by a long sofa in orange and cognac, which runs around the perimeter and delineates circular booth.

Each booth features tables with lacquered enamel surfaces with concentric colored circles, or palm tree pattern and a central brass and steel foot. In each table, the Dimore Studio has also placed modern chairs with a central foot and flower-patterned lamps inspired by the oriental lanterns.

The floor is a unique parquet with brass detailing, while a deep hues purple carpet covers the surface of the platform.

Furthermore, the stage features a brass portal and a bamboo curtain, hand-painted with white and pink lotus blossoms on a pale blue background.

Moving through to the adjoining restaurant, the eye is yet again drawn to the rose gold leaf ceiling and sprawling lozenge floor whilst a mixture of bespoke seating in modernist and playful shapes provides diners with options in which to socialize.

Thirdly, to offer the contemporary design that harks back to Dallas’ history and the glamour of the mid-century period. This was achieved in designing furniture in modernist and playful shapes and the finishes of the walls, floor, and bar in deep and luxurious materials.

Counter vs Bar

You may be suprised to hear that there are difference between bar stools and counter stools. Though maybe not if you’ve been sitting on the wrong sized stool! So what is the difference between the two? Well that all comes down to height.

Counter stools are typically lower, but not that low! A comfortable height is around 24-29 inches tall, and what you would use to sit at the kitchen counter. These stools sit well under a counter height that’s between 34-39 inches high.

Bar Stools, on the other hand, are about 30-36 inches tall, and are used for, yeah you guessed it, sitting at a bar. These moderns stools are best suited for bars or counter tops that are 40-46 inches from the ground.

Measurement

Start by measuring your bar or counter from floor to the top of the bar. And it never hurt to measure twice, just to be as accurate as possible. After you’ve measured you can pick the right stool height by subtracting 10″ from your counter height. Doing this will give you ample room from the seat of the stool the bottom of the counter top. To get the perfect stool height, measure from the feet to the seat.

Adjustments

Uncertain of your measuring skills? That’s okay, adjustable stools to the rescue! Adjustable modern stools are also great option for growing children who may need a higher seat to start. MOHAWK stool from BRABBU is a good option!

How many kitchen bar stools?

Knowing the height of your barstools is only half the battle. Once you have the ideal height for your set up, you’ll need to figure out how many stools will fit. Too many and you’ll overcrowd your counter, too few and you’l be left with a sparse and bare space.

People should be able to get in and out of their seats with ease, and eat and drink without bumping elbows. You’ll want each stool to sit about 26-30 inches apart, that’s measuring from the center of one stool to the next. There should be about 14 inches left inbetween the last stool and the wall. No need to crowd the last person against the wall!

Play with your kitchen decor

Once you’ve measured, you’re ready to pick your bar stools. You’ll find that there are plenty of modern bars stools to choose from when it comes to desining your space. Be sure to choose a stool that will go with your decor and meet your needs.

But don’t be afraid to think outside the box. Modern stools are a great way to mix up your styles by bringing in something unexpected. If you’re going to be sitting for a longer period of time then be sure to choose a stool that has a back for a more comfortable seat.
